New Dharma School Year Starts for 2022-2023

Lisa Umekubo just sent out information about the coming Dharma School year which starts Sunday, September 11.
The first Dharma School service after summer break will also be our first hybrid family service after the break.
In a recent email to Dharma School families, Lisa wrote, “We are excited to begin the 2022-23 Dharma School year! We hope your family had a restful summer and your children are ready for the new year!”

Services Resume Sunday, September 11
The in-person Dharma School service will begin at 10 a.m.
Classes
For the new Dharma School year, we have combined classes as follows:
Pre-K through 3rd
Grades 4-8
Grades 9-12
Teachers and classrooms will be shared on the first day of Dharma School.

If you haven't done so already, please fill out the online 2022-23 DS Registration Form (one per student) ASAP. Please feel free to share this link with friends and family.
Working Together and Volunteer Options
We understand that parent support leads to student success, and we look forward to partnering with you. This year we will need parents to volunteer in classrooms each week. Additionally, we will need a few volunteers to help with hospitality on September 11.

Taiko Opportunity
If you or your child is interested in learning how to play the Taiko drums, BTSD Taiko is hosting a series of workshops in September and October. More information about these beginning Taiko workshops can be found on the BTSD website.

About Dharma School
The purpose of the BTSD Dharma School is to provide students with a Jodo Shinshu Buddhist foundation by teaching concepts such as Compassion, Gratitude, Interdependence and Mindfulness to help guide them through their daily lives.
