Congratulations to Wilbur Shigehara: KUSI Shoutout for Cherry Blossom Festival
Temple member Wilbur Shigehara has friends all over San Diego, thanks to his long career with the San Diego County office of the National Weather Service. Those friends include KUSI TV, who provided a shout out to Wilbur in their news segment on March 12, at the Japanese Friendship Garden and its Cherry Blossom Festival. Congratulations, Wilbur! About Wilbur Shigehara
Wilbur, who with his wife Janice, a long-time member of the Buddhist Temple of San Diego, was for decades the public face of the San Diego County office of the National Weather Service, endearing himself to TV newscasters, San Diego farmers, and more. He made an impression early; see the following two articles about him and his work here. The articles speak to his dedicated outreach to the public to help them understand our weather.
